Jeff has played and shared his passion for the music of the southern Appalachia with people of all ages. Seniors are delighted when they hear Jeff play songs so familiar to them and their era. What a better way to celebrate our American music heritage than with the folks who grew up listening to this wonderful music!
Jeff Robbins, a southwestern
Virginia native, presents an upbeat, informative program of southern
Appalachian music, stories and dance. Jeff mixes it up with requests from the audience and keeps everyone involved from the very first note to the last.
The performance is 40 minutes in which your residents will not soon forget! The program is engaging, educational,
participatory and most of all, a lot of fun! It's also important to note that music plays an essential role in keeping the mind alert and active. Their are several studies which demonstrate that music therapy produces better cognition for those suffering with altzheimers.
Jeff also offers an instrument making workshop, "How to Make a One String Pork-n-Bean Guitar." This is an excellent way to work on hand-eye coordination and dexterity. It's a lot of fun, enjoyed by all ages, and gives your residents something to make and take away with them.
Jeff has participated in the, "Arts in Medicine" programming for the Hillsborough County Arts Council for the past 21 years.
